Leesburg Announces 21st Annual Independence Day
Parade Winners
Leesburg, VA (July 11, 2011) – The 21st annual Town of Leesburg 4th of July Parade was held on
Monday, July 4, 2011, with dozens of floats, bands, walking groups, classic cars, animals, fire
engines and more making their way from Ida Lee Park, down King Street and through the
Historic Downtown. The parade route was lined with spectators of all ages, decked out in red,
white & blue and cheering the parade participants.
Each year, the parade committee chooses the best entries in four categories. In addition, the
Patriot Cup, sponsored by Leesburg Today newspaper, is awarded to the top patriotic float.
The parade winners have been invited to join the Mayor and Town Council at 7:30 pm on
Tuesday, July 12, 2011 to receive their awards. The category winners for the 2011 parade are:
Best Walking Group Lindsay’s Salon
Best Interpretation of Theme Northwest Federal Credit Union
Most Creative (Under 15) Prospect Patriots
Most Creative (15 & Older) Mommy and Me Pets
Best Musical Entry (Under 15) Celtic Rhythm School of Dance
Best Musical Entry (15 & Older) Olivera Music
The fourth annual Patriot Cup went
to INOVA Loudoun Medical Campus
(pictured right). This year’s win
marks the second time that INOVA
Loudoun has taken the cup home
since the debut of the Patriot Cup
competition in 2008. The Patriot
Cup, engraved with the names of
each year’s winners, will be on
display at the Leesburg Town Hall.

Despite a few early rain showers, the evening “Celebration in the Park” at Ida Lee Park saw
large crowds, with an estimated 21,000 people in attendance. With a variety of food vendors on
hand, live musical entertainment by Faded Image, and the largest fireworks show in Northern
Virginia, the event drew visitors from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland as well as
locals to enjoy the evening celebration.
