Loudoun Learning Opens New Expanded Location In
Leesburg’s Fort Evans Plaza II Shopping Center
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Scheduled for Wednesday, July 27, 2011
Leesburg, VA (July 26, 2011) – At 11:30 a.m. on July 27, 2011, Town of Leesburg officials will
hold a ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening of Loudoun Learning’s new location in
the Fort Evans II Shopping Center at 506-B Fort Evans Road. Mayor Kristen C. Umstattd will
officiate.
Owner Michelle Johnson, a former teacher for Loudoun County Public Schools, first opened
Loudoun Learning in 2002 in response to the demand for quality educational tools from area
teachers and parents. To better meet the needs of her customers, Loudoun Learning’s
extensive in-store and online product catalogs were launched in 2004. In 2003, Loudoun
Learning was awarded the Retail Small Business of the Year Award by the Loudoun County
Chamber of Commerce. In 2008, the business received the Innovations Award from the Town
of Leesburg’s Economic Development Commission. This latest expansion, which increases the
store’s size from 3,400 to 4,500 square feet, has allowed Johnson to customize the space and to
increase the store’s current product line selection.
“We were able to work with the Uniwest contractors to completely design our own space right
down to the check-out counter,” said Johnson. “We are very excited about the new ideas we
will be launching in the fall and throughout the next years.”
“Loudoun Learning has been a true success story since they opened their doors in 2002,” said
Economic Development Manager Marantha Edwards. “We are happy to celebrate their
continued growth and participation in our community.”
