RESOLUTION NO. 67 -776
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY REQUESTING THE STATE
LEGISLATURE TO AMEND THE 1967 CIGARETTE
TAX PROGRAM (S.B. 556, CHAPTER 963).
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, the 1967 State. Legislature has heretofore enacted
Chapter 963 imposing a state collected local cigarette tax; and
WHEREAS, said legislation provides for allocation of such
taxes among local agencies on the basis of sales taxes; and
WHEREAS; this City Council believes that a population
distribution formula will be more equitable;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Temple
City urges the State Legislature to amend Chapter 963 of the
1967 statutes to distribute the cigarette taxes to local agen-
cies on a population basis.
The Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 3rd day of October, 1967.
