TREE BOARD
Regular meeting
9 a.m. May 18, 2022
Board Meeting Room of Town Hall Annex, 105 E. Corbin St.
Present: Chair Casey Collins, Vice Chair Tim Logue, Sharon Billings,
Bridget Booher, Mixon Nelson and Gregory Yavelak
Absent: Linda Paynter
Staff: Public Space and Sustainability Manager Stephanie Trueblood
1. Call to order, roll call and confirmation of quorum
Chair Casey Collins called the meeting to order at 9 a.m. Public Space and Sustainability Manager Stephanie
Trueblood called the roll and confirmed the presence of a quorum.
2. Agenda changes and approval
An Item 4.C. was added for a debrief of Earth Evening.
Motion: Member Tim Logue moved to approve the agenda as amended. Member Greg Yavelak
seconded.
Vote: 6-0
3. Minutes review and approval
Minutes from regular meeting on March 16, 2022, and April 20, 2022
Motion: Member Sharon Billings moved approval of the March 16, 2022, and April 20, 2022, minutes as
submitted. Logue seconded.
Vote: 6-0
4. Discussion items
A. Video planning: How to Plant a Tree, Habitat Piles
Collins offered to write the scripts and pass them around the board for input.
B. National Pollinator Week planning: June 20-26, 2022
Trueblood noted that Sarah Meadows, the chair of the Hillsborough Garden Club’s Bee City Subcommittee,
could not attend this meeting to review upcoming plans for National Pollinator Week. She summarized what
typically happens.
Billings offered to write a list of facts to be included in a news release about National Pollinator Week.
5. Updates
A. Garden Club
Billings reported the plant sale went well.

B. Invasive Removal Team
Logue reported the team continues to remove invasives. Some of the small new plants have not survived.
Some have been disturbed by visitors.
C. Staff
Trueblood noted that:
• A southern red oak on Hillsborough Avenue has had some dieback. It will be trimmed rather than
removed.
• The Treasure Tree map has been updated.
• A homeowner requested Tree Board assistance in removing wisteria from the right of way near the
Corbinton Woods neighborhood.
6. Adjournment
Collins adjourned the meeting at 9:56 a.m.
