PETITIONING VIRGINIA'S UNITED STATES SENATORS AND
REPRESENTATIVES FOR HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
DEPARTMENT FUNDING FOR IMPROVING QUALITY OF LIFE OF
LOUDOUN HOUSE CITIZENS
WHEREAS, on May 19, 1992, the town msnager corresponded with Mr. David J,,llsn of the
National Housing Partnership (NHP), owner of Loudoun House; and
WHEREAS, the correspondence requested that Loudoun House's security force be reinstated due
to a growing number of violent incidences at Loudoun House; and
WHE~, Mr. Jnlisn's response was that the federal funding for the project is insufficient to
provide for a security force at Loudoun House; and
WHE~, the town's police force and Loudoun House's security force had worked well together
to control crime in Loudoun House; and
WHEREAS, the absence of a security force has created an environment more difficult to control
which has affected law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, additional federal funding at Loudoun House should be used to reinstate the security
force and improve the q, mllty of life for Loudoun House citizens and those in surrounding neighborhoods:
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
The mayor is hereby authorized to petition Virginia's elected representatives in the U.S. Senate
and House of Representatives as well as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to provide
additional federal funding to reinstate the Loudoun House security force and improve the q, mllty of life
of the citizens of Loudoun House.
