Cemetery Resource Board Meeting

Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present.
The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference
Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street, Jefferson City,
Missouri.
Approval of the Minutes:
A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the March 17, 2016 meeting by Pat Rowe Kerr,
Tim Theroff seconded. Minutes were approved.
Communications Received:
David Grellner announced that Sherri Cook, Board Member, has resigned from the Cemetery Resource
Board.
Old Business:
Nancy Thompson began discussion about the Carrie Crittenden special event that will be on Saturday,
June 4, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. -4:00 p.m. Nancy passed around a brochure and map that will be used for
the event. She asked board members to look over and edit as needed. Discussion then occurred about
the individuals the docents will be representing. Nancy stated that she has received permission from
the Edward Jones business across the street to utilize their parking. Also I.C. parking lot was mentioned
for overflow parking. Nancy asked Mark Schreiber if he would announce the event to the Mayor and
City Council. Also discussed were press releases, distribution of flyers, and newspaper articles to
advertise the event. David Grellner stated that bathrooms were available for use in the National
Cemetery.
It was mentioned that there are 101 veterans identified in the cemetery. Flags will be placed in the
cemetery at these grave sites for Memorial Day.

New Business:
Nancy Thompson talked about work days in the cemetery and when to have one. Discussion occurred
about having one before the Carrie Crittenden event if time permitted, otherwise after the event.
Nancy stated that the Lincoln ROTC group has not contacted her yet about working in the cemetery.
Mark Schreiber mentioned talking to Ruthi Sturdevant, Lincoln University, about helping out for the
event.
The Cemetery Board then proceeded to do an onsite visit to Old City and Woodland Cemetery.
Discussion occurred about how the flow of the event was going to occur, the people interred that would
be represented, and what materials were needed to set up the event.
Other Topics and Issues:
The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for May 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small
Conference Room at City Hall.
