Police Personnel Board
Minutes—April 7, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 12:07pm.
Eight persons attended as follows:

Following greetings, roll call was taken.
Approval of February 18, 2016 minutes
It was moved by Dillon and seconded by Turner that the minutes for the February 18th meeting be approved. The
motion was carried unanimously.
Old Business
Veterinary Assistant Position – Lt. Stiefermann announced that this position has been filled and scheduled to start on
April 11th, 2016.
Police Officer Positions - Lt. Stiefermann announced that out of the 48 applicants scheduled for testing, 14 showed up
for testing and seven passed the written exam. Two conditional offers were made last week (the week of April 4, 2016).
Currently we still have one opening for Police Officer.
Communications Officer Position – Lt. Stiefermann announced that seven candidates for this position did move on
further with the interview process after testing but no one completed the interview process successfully, therefore no
one was hired. Currently we still have one opening for Communications Officer.
Appreciation Luncheon
Mr. Derks went over some last minute details of the Appreciation Luncheon for the police department employees
scheduled for May 5th, 2016. The board will be serving food starting at 11:00 a.m.
New Business
Recruitment – Chief Schroeder discussed a meeting that was recently held with Human Resources as well as eight police
officers regarding ideas for recruiting new hires as well as reaching a larger pool of candidates and offering more
information to those that show an interest. Some of these ideas included radio, employment opportunity posters,
sending current Police Officers to colleges and universities to recruit applicants, and social media, to name a few.
Police Officer Testing – Testing is scheduled for Friday, May 20th at 1:00 and Saturday, May 21st at 9:00a.m. The
applicants can now choose the date/time that they want to attend Police Officer testing and it is being offered on two
days instead of just one.
Communications Officer Testing – Testing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 18th at 6:00 p.m.
Mr. Derks went over the testing schedule and confirmed the specific Board members that are assigned to be proctors for
each testing time scheduled.
Next Meeting Date- the next meeting is May 25, 2016.
It was moved by Ms. Turner and seconded by Dickman for adjournment. The meeting was adjourned at 12:47.
