Permanent Vehicle Decals Now On Sale at Leesburg Town Hall
Leesburg, VA (September 6, 2011) – Beginning this year, the Town of Leesburg is issuing
permanent decals for all vehicles owned by Town residents. Decals purchased on or after
September 1, 2011, for cars, trucks and motorcycles will remain valid as long as the vehicle is
owned by the purchaser and all personal property taxes are current.
Decal fees for automobiles and trucks are $25.00 and motorcycle decals cost $15.00.
Exemptions may apply for some disabled veterans, active duty military personnel, and
qualifying volunteer fire and rescue personnel.
The new permanent decals must be purchased and must be displayed by November 15, 2011.
Residents who purchase a new vehicle must obtain and display the permanent decal within
thirty days of purchase of the vehicle.
For taxpayers who are current on taxes, new permanent decals will be included in the personal
property tax bills that will be mailed to residents in September 2011. For taxpayers who are
delinquent on taxes, the permanent decals are not included with the personal property tax
bills. Residents with past due personal property taxes must pay all personal property balances
before the Town will issue a permanent decal. Any resident who does not receive a personal
property tax bill in the mail should contact the Town of Leesburg at pptax@leesburgva.gov or
703-771-2701. In the event the permanent decal is sent with the tax bill but is not received by
the taxpayer, a replacement decal can be purchased for $5.00.
New residents can purchase vehicle decals at the Finance Department at Town Hall located at
25 West Market Street during normal business hours of Monday through Friday 8:30am to
5:00pm (excluding holidays).
