HomeMy Public PortalAbout1954-03-15 MeetingAtir The Council of -Ba1 Harbour Village met at the Village 14)01 , Monday, March 15, 1954 at 8:00 o'clock P. M. There were present: Dr. Leonard and Messrs. Beatty, Brown and Cox13n's.` Absent:.. Mr. Stokely . Also present were W. H. Webb, Village Manager; Mary Wetterer, Village Clerk; and.Thcmas-H. Anderson, Village Attorney. The minutes of the previous meeting of February 15, 1954 were read and on motion of Mr. Brown, seconded by Mr. Collins, approved. The Village Clerk reported that at the close of the. registration period the records showed fifty nine (59) registered freeholders. That at the election of.March 2,.1954 A total of:forty one (41) Neteahad been Fast, being thirty nine:(39) for the purchaae of the village hall site and 446(2) against the purchase. The ballots were counted.by the'.election clerks, Jacqueline H. Beatty and Barbara R. Whitman, and herself -in the presence of witnesses. Mr. Louis.Vernell, an attorney fcr. Mr. Maurice Burns and Mr. Marvin Bauer who were also present at the meeting, appeared and atked:the council to give approval to a new jitney service they proposed to operate that would run from 87th Terrace to the Golden Beach line through Bel Harbour. After discussion it was moved by Mr. Brown, seconded by MrCollins and carried that the Village Manager be authorized to make an investigation at the hotels and apartments with regard to the need for such service and if found necessary to .testify to such at the Railroad. Commission'hearing.' .. Dr. Leonard said the next item was the discussionof an architect for the Village Hall. Mr. Brown Auggested that a committee be appointed to look into this and get preliminary sketches. Thereupon:Dr. Leonard appointed Mr. Beatty to act as Chairman of this committee with Mr. Stokely and the Village Manager. There being no further business before the meeting on motion of Mr. Beatty, seconded by Mr. Collins, the meeting adjourned. Village Clerk Mfg
