AUTHORIZING CARTERET PLANNiNG BOARD TO CONDUCT A
PRELIMINARY iNVESTIGATION AND MAKE A
RECOMMENDATION AS TO WHETHER A PROPOSED ROOSEVELT
AVENUE INDUSTRIAL PARK REDEVELOPMENT DISTRICT IS AN
AREA iN NEED OF REDEVELOPMENT PURSUANT TO LOCAL
REDEVELOPMENT AND HOUSiNG LAW, N.J.S.A.
40A:12A-1, ET SEQ.
WHEREAS, the governing body of the Borough of Carteret has determined that it is in
the public interest to consider designating and establishing a Roosevelt Avenue Industrial
Park Redevelopment District within the Borough in accordance with the Local
Redevelopment and Housing Law (codified at NJ.S.A. 40A: 12A- 1 ct seq.
"Redevelopment Law" ); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 6 of the Redevelopment Law, no area of a municipality
shall be determined a redevelopment area unless the governing body of the municipality
shall, by resolution, authorize the planning board to undertake a preliminary investigation
to determine whether the proposed area is a redevelopment area according to the criteria
set forth in Section 5 of the Redevelopment Law; and
WHEREAS, the governing body wishes to assign the conduct of the preliminary
investigation and heating(s) to the Carteret Planning Board pursuant to the provisions of
the Redevelopment Law.
NOW, TItEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey as follows:
1. That the Carteret Planning Board is hereby authorized to initiate and
undertake a preliminary investigation and heating(s) to determine whether
a proposed Roosevelt Avenue Industrial Park Redevelopment District is a
redevelopment area as required by Section 6 of the Local Redevelopment
and Housing Law.
2. That the Carteret Planning Board, following said preliminary
investigation and heating(s), make a recommendation to the Mayor and
Council pursuant to Subsection b. of Section 6 of the Redevelopment Law
as to whether a proposed Roosevelt Avenue Industrial Park
Redevelopment District is an area in need of redevelopment.
3. That a copy of this Resolution be forwarded to the Carteret Planning
Board for action consistent therewith.
