SPECIAL MEETING
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
July 17 , 1991
MINUTES
I . ROLL CALL
President Nonette Hanko called the meeting to order at 6: 20
P.M.
II. Members Present: Ginny Babbitt, Richard Bishop, Betsy
Crowder, Katherine Duffy, Nanette Hanko, Teena Henshaw, and
Robert McKibbin.
III . Personnel Present: Herbert Grench, Mary Hale, Mary Gundert,
and Joan Combs.
IV. ADOPTION OF AGENDA
N. Hanko stated that item two (Board-Manager Relations
Workshop) on the agenda would be discussed during Closed
Session as a personnel matter. She stated that the agenda
as amended was adopted by Board consensus.
V. BOARD BUSINESS
A. Final Selection of Logo Shapes and Colors (Report R-91-
88 dated July 8 , 1991)
Consultant Deborah Mills presented the results of staff
reviews of the shape and color options for truck decals and
shoulder patches. The Board reviewed variations of type and
line placements for the three shapes that had been selected
for further developed at its May 30, 1991 special meeting,
as well as various color options .
The Board selected Shape 17-A as the preferred design shape ,
and requested staff to return at the May 24 regular meeting
with refinements of its final choice of shape and colors.
The Board agreed that birds should appear on the logo.
The Board also reviewed alternative designs for preserve
entrance signs, and requested staff to return on May 24 with
mockups of signs in Optima typeface, with and without the
logo at the bottom.

VI. CLOSED SESSION
N. Hanko stated that the board-manager relations workshop
item would be discussed under personnel matters in Closed
Session. H. Grench announced that a potential acquisition
of a portion of the former Azzarello property APN 544-05-23,
-24, -26, and -28 would be discussed in Closed Session. The
property owner is Santa Clara County, and the District would
be negotiating with Douglas Gaynor. The Board recessed to
Closed Session at 7 : 22 P.M.
VI I. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting adjourned at 9:39 P.M.
