Leesburg’s A.V. Symington Tennis Center Hosts 4th Annual
Leesburg Cup Tennis Tournament
Leesburg, VA (September 20, 2011) – The A.V. Symington Tennis Center, located at Leesburg’s
Ida Lee Park, hosted the 4th annual Leesburg Cup Tennis Tournament on September 16 through
18, 2011. The Leesburg Cup is an invitational team tournament for senior players (age 50 &
over) from Middleburg Tennis Club, Chestnut Forks Athletic Club and A. V. Symington Tennis
Center. The Leesburg Cup is part of an annual tournament series hosted by these three clubs.
The Leesburg Cup tournament
competition has improved each
year, and this year's event
came down to the last match
on Sunday to determine the
winner. Middleburg Tennis
Club won three out of five
matches on Sunday to take the
Cup. This year’s win was the
first time Middleburg has
won since the event returned
to Leesburg in 2008.
As he described the close
competition, quality of tennis
and camaraderie among the
players this past weekend, Ida
Lee's Head Tennis Professional Moses Gittens summed it up by saying, "You can't ask for
anything better than that."
