HomeMy Public PortalAboutTOL PR 2011-09-21 Leesburg photo walk Town of Leesburg News Release For Immediate Release Downtown Leesburg Photo Walk Planned for Saturday, October 1, 2011 Event is part of the 4th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, the largest global social event for photographers Leesburg, VA (September 21, 2011) – On Saturday, October 1, 2011, local photographer David L. Crooks will lead a photo walk through downtown Leesburg. The photo walk will begin at 9:45 a.m. on the Town Green (25 West Market Street). The photo walk is free and open to anyone with a camera, and should last approximately three hours. At the conclusion of the photo walk, participants will gather at Fireworks Pizza (201 Harrison Street SE, in Market Station) to share their results. The Leesburg photo walk is part of the 4th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk, organized by Scott Kelby, president of the National Association of Photoshop Professionals. This year, the Worldwide Photo Walk will take place on October 1-2, 2011 at over 1,000 locations around the globe. Last year, more than 30,000 photographers participated in the 3rd Annual Worldwide Photo Walk and took an estimated 6 million images. This year is the second time that David Crooks has led a downtown Leesburg photo walk as part of the annual worldwide event. “A photo walk is great way for photographers to meet other photographers in an informal setting, and share our work with each other,” explained Crooks. “We had about 45 photo- graphers participate in last year’s downtown Leesburg photo walk. The feedback from that event was so positive; I am really looking forward to this year’s walk.
