HomeMy Public PortalAbout068-2009 - Amending Civilian Salaries-StreetORDINANCE NO.68-2009 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 55-2008 KNOWN AS THE 2009 SALARY ORDINANCE WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-4-7-3 requires the Mayor to fix the compensation of each appointive officer, deputy and other employee of the city departments, except police officers and firefighters, prior to September 30 for the ensuing budget year subject to the approval of Common Council; and WHEREAS, said statute allows the City Clerk to fix the compensation of the deputies and employees of the Clerk's office prior to September 30 for the ensuing budget year subject to the approval of Common Council; and WHEREAS, the compensation fixed herein may not be increased during the budget year for which it is fixed but may be reduced by the Mayor for each appointive officer, deputy and other employee of the city departments set forth herein or by the City Clerk for employees of the Clerk's office; except by amendment approved by Common Council; and WHEREAS, Common Council has previously adopted Ordinance 55-2008 to establish salaries for the year 2009 and has amended with Ordinance 88-2008 and Ordinance 3-2009 and now finds it necessary to amend the salaries of the Street Department to create a new labor position. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana that the following positions be compensated not in excess of the respective sums hereafter set forth during the calendar year 2009, to wit: Street Department Street Commissioner Office Manager Crew Section Leader (5) Equipment Operator (15) Maintenance Laborer Head Mechanic Assistant /Mechanic Laborer- 14 \■ Laborer (3) General Laborer TEMPORARY AND PART-TIME 2009 2009 Bi- Hourly Weekly Salary Rate 2,183.22 1,168.93 1,330.03 16.63 1,206.29 15.08 1,206.29 15.08 1,371.35 17.14 1,269.59 15.87 1,206.40 15.08 800.00 10.00 In addition to the positions set forth above, the Mayor and the City Department Heads may, as needed, hire and compensate part-time or temporary employees as permitted by their respective budgets. Compensation for these positions may range from $5.85 to $15.00 per hour. ADDITIONAL COMPENSATION In addition to the salaries set forth above, certain employees, excluding members of the Board of Works, the Aviation Board and the Park and Recreation Board, may be entitled to additional compensation, such as, overtime, compensation time, etc., and fringe benefits as set forth within the City of Richmond Personnel Policy or as stated in negotiated contracts.
