A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
TEMPLE CITY RELATING TO THE SALARY OF THE CITY
ATTORNEY
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. Appointment: Charles R. Martin is hereby redesig-
nated as City Attorney of this City.
SECTION 2. Duties. He shall provide the services prescribed
by the Government Code of the State of California.
SECTION 3. Compensation. Commencing July 1, 1968, he shall
be paid by the City:
a) Basic Salary. The sum of $800.00 per month as basic salary.
b) Special Charges. For services in connection with court pro-
ceedings, improvement act proceedings, condemnation work, or work
outside of the County of Los Angeles, the City shall pay such addi-
tional fees as shall from time to time be negotiated or authorized.
c) Deferred Compensation. Said Charles R. Martin shall also
accrue from the City "deferred compensation" as follows: commencing --
with the month of July, 1968, and for every calendar month thereafter- -
during any part of which he is retained by this City as City Attorney- -
Charles R. Martin shall accrue from the City non - forfeitable "deferred
compensation" at the rate of $150.00 per month.
(i) Such "deferred compensation" shall be retained by the
City, unfunded, and shall not be paid or be available
to said City Attorney in any manner whatsoever, ex-
cept upon termination of his services with the City.
(ii) Upon such termination for whatever cause, voluntary
or involuntary, such accrued "deferred compensation"
shall be paid to him by the City at the rate of $100.00
per month -- commencing on the date hereafter set forth,
and continuing monthly thereafter until the total
accrued amount thereof (together with interest or
unpaid balances at 4% per annum, computed and com-
pounded annually from date of respective accrual) has
been paid to him (or, if he is deceased, lump sum to
his surviving widow; or if none, to his estate) in
full and without offset.
(iii) The commencement date mentioned in sub - paragraph (ii)
above is hereby established as follows:
1. if Mr. Martin survives to so elect: on the first
day of the month next succeeding written notice
from Mr. Martin, provided such exercise shall be
made within five years from date of termination;
and
2. if Martin does not so survive: then on the first
day of the month next succeeding his death.
SECTION 4. Except as to amounts accrued, the City Council may
amend this resolution at any time.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this resolution.

No. 68 -842, was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Temple
City at a regular meeting thereof held on the 16th day of July, 1968,
by the following vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen- Beckley, Harker, Merritt, Tyrell, Briggs
