The TREE fund works to sustain the world’s urban forests by providing funding for scholarships, scientific research, and education programs related to arboriculture and urban forestry. “We on the Tree Commission are very excited that the Tour des Trees is coming to Leesburg,” said Tom Seeman, chair of the Leesburg Tree Commission. “This event represents a great educational opportunity for children and adults alike to learn about the benefits of trees, as well as proper tree selection, planting, and maintenance. The educational aspects of the event support the goals of the Town's Urban Forestry Management Plan.” On August 30, 2011, the Leesburg Town Council passed a resolution in recognition and support of the TREE Fund’s Tour des Trees event.
