RESOLUTION NO. 68 -844
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY PROTESTING
THE INORDINATE INCREASE IN ASSESSED
VALUE OF PROPERTIES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES
RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, this City Council has received notice from
the County Assessor of Los Angeles County that the assessed
value of properties within the City of Temple City has been
increased by almost 37% and that the assessed value within
the County of Los Angeles has been increased an additional
$837,000,000; and
WHEREAS, this City Council finds such staggering
increases unconscionable from the standpoint of a single
year's change, and that when major re- assessments are
made, the same should be done on a phased basis to allow
for adjustment; and
WHEREAS, the Council recognizes that the assessed
valuation is only one -half of formula which eventually
results in a tax figure to the property owner; neverthe-
less the Council recognizes that the County Assessor must
do his part in maintaining property taxes within the
realm of reasonability;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Temple City does hereby protest the inordinate increase
imposed upon the City of Temple City and requests the
County Assessor's office for reconsideration thereof.
The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
