Leesburg Town Council Member Katie Hammler Elected As
Virginia Municipal League Town Section Chair
Leesburg, VA (October 6, 2011) – At the Virginia Municipal League
(VML) annual conference in Henrico County this week, Leesburg
Town Council Member Katie Hammler was unanimously elected by
Towns throughout the Commonwealth as the Town Section Chair
of the VML Executive Committee. Ms. Hammler also currently
serves as chair of VML’s Community and Economic Policy
Committee and is a member of VML’s Legislative Committee.
“I am sincerely honored that the Town voting members elected me
to represent their interests on VML's Executive Committee,” said
Ms. Hammler. “I would particularly like to thank Lovettsville Mayor
Elaine Walker, Vienna Mayor Jane Seeman, and Purcellville Mayor
Bob Lazaro for their support. This is a tremendous opportunity
to help formulate General Assembly legislative priorities to achieve the positive change our
citizens expect of us as their local elected leaders.”
“Katie has worked tirelessly with her VML colleagues on multiple issues; and her hard work has
been recognized,” commented Leesburg Mayor Kristen Umstattd. “She deserves tremendous
credit and we, on council, are all very proud of her.”
