PRESENT: Mayor Brad Andersen, Council President Bruce Case, Council member Dan Gubler,
Council member Rob Geray, Council member Thane Price, Public Works Supervisor Zech
Prouse, City Clerk Robyn Keyes, Treasurer, Deputy Clerk Amy Sullivan, Police Chief Shannon
B asaraba.
Visitors: Allen Eldridge.
Electrical and Plumbing Inspection Discussion. Building Inspector Allen Eldridge presented
the idea to the Council of contracting electrical and plumbing inspectors for work performed
within the City. Eldridge said due to budget cuts, the State was backlogged with inspection
requests and there were few inspectors for the entire state. Eldridge said the delayed inspections
also delayed subsequent work. Eldridge recommended the City offer faster service for the
builders by contracting qualified local inspectors who could offer same or next day service, like
the City did with mechanical inspections.
Eldridge said he was receiving positive feedback from the developers and building contractors
regarding the services the City was currently providing and would like to offer more of a full
package for the builders.
Mayor Andersen said he liked the idea, and said the City should either offer full service or no
service at all. The Mayor said he would like to see the City offer full service for building
inspection needs.
Council President Case commented on his negative experience with delayed inspections when
we was building his home and agreed with Eldridge that faster service was needed.
Council members Geray and Price also liked the idea of faster service and quality control.
Council member Gubler asked if there were qualified inspectors available in the area.
Eldridge said there were.
Meeting adjourned 6:55 p.m.
