AWARD OF PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT PURSUANT
TO LOCAL PUBLIC CONTRACT LAWS
WHEREAS, there exists a need for professional services to provide legal services
in connection with 1995 Local Tax Appeals for County and State levels; and
WHEREAS, funds are available for this purpose; and
WHEREAS, the Local Public Contracts Law (N.J.S.A. 40A: 11-1 et seq.) requires
that the resolution authorizing the award of contracts for "Professional Services"
without competitive bids and the contract itself must be available for public
inspection;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret:
1. Joseph P. Schiappa, Esq. is hereby appointed to represent the Borough in said
services for a fee not to exceed $23,500.00 plus litigation and filing fees.
2. Said appointment is made without competitive bidding as a "Professional
Service" under the provisions of the Local Public Contracts Law because
legal services are a recognized profession, licensed and certified by law.
3. A notice oftthis action shall be printed once in The News Tribune on
April 11, 1995.
Adopted this 6th day of April, 1995
and certified as a true copy of the
original on April 7, 1995.
