Call to Order Chair Jim Wisch called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. in the Large Conference Room. A quorum was present. 2. Introductions Introductions were made of the committee members. 3. Technical sub-committee expectations – what is expected Expectations of the sub-committee were discussed. The committee is being asked to review the Existing Building Codes and to make recommendations for adoption with any amendments. The final end product would be a draft ordinance that would be presented to the City Council for amending the City Code. 4. Technical sub-committee reports – what should be reported back Discussion centered around public meetings to keep others informed, relationships with the City of Columbia including their code review process, and the eventual ordinance to be presented. 5. What is necessary to update the Steering Committee The approved minutes of the committee meetings will be forwarded to the Steering Committee to keep them informed of progress. 6. What physical form of the code should be used After discussion, the committee members desired to have three ring binders of the Code and Commentary with a PDF file. 7. New Business No new business items were presented. 8. Public Comments No public comments were presented. 9. Next meeting date The committee discussed meeting dates. It was decided they will meet the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The first meeting date will be May 3, 2016. Copies of the code will be made available to the committee members by the City by April 26, 2016. The first three chapters will be reviewed at the first meeting in May. As for an option for this and other committees to consider was the possibility of adopting the Code and Commentary versions. Most of the ICC codes do have a commentary that helps explain the intent of the code. 10. Ad journ The meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
