City of Jefferson Code Review Steering Committee
April 26, 2016

1. Call to Order
Chair Crabtree called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. in the Small Conference Room of City
Hall. A quorum was present.
2. Introductions
The committee members introduced themselves. Mark Fechtel with Summit Mechanical
attended in lieu of Jim Lambirth with Summit Mechanical
3. Technical sub-committee expectations – what is expected from the sub-committee?
The committee is being asked to make a recommendation on the 2015 versions of the Fire,
Property Maintenance, and Wildland-Urban Interface codes.
4. Technical sub-committee reports – what should be reported back and in what form?
The final product of the committee was discussed. Eventually an ordinance will be drafted with
the committee’s recommendation for the adoption of the codes with amendments.
5. What is necessary to update the Steering Committee from the sub-committee?
Updates will consist of minutes and reports from the Chair and Vice Chair. All of the sub-
committees Chair and Vice Chairs also are members of the Steering Committee.
6. What physical form of the code should be used?
-The three options of the code formats were discussed. The results were mixed as to what the
members choose. Some members will purchase their own books and some preferred to have
three ring binders with a copy of the PDF. The number of copies will be verified and be made
available by City Staff within two weeks or May 10th.
-Chair Crabtree recommended that the code book version be used for review in lieu of the code
and commentary.

The next meeting date will be May 24th.
