1. Call to Order
Chairman Klindt called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. in the Small Conference Room of City Hall. A
quorum was present. The minutes of the March 23, 2016 meeting were reviewed and approved by the
committee.
2. Distribute Code Books
Copies of the 2015 Residential Code and Commentary that were acquired through a grant by the HBA
were distributed to the committee members.
3. Discuss Code Review Process and Assign Chapters
The Table of Contents of the Residential Code was reviewed. Considerable discussion followed. It was
decided that the committee members would review Parts 1 and 2 of Chapter 1 to discuss next time. They
would come back to a more detailed review of these parts later on after the rest of the code book was
reviewed.
4. Discuss Steering Committee Administrative Review of Building Regulations
Responsibilities
The administrative responsibilities of the City’s Building Regulations Division were discussed. The
Steering Committee decided it would be the primary reviewer of this area since all the code books contain
these responsibilities in Chapter One. This would then be discussed and reviewed later on in the cod e
review process by all the sub-committees. Comments would then be transmitted to the Steering
Committee through the Chairs and Vice Chairs.
5. New Business
It was requested to have refreshments available for committee members and to get samples of
Columbia’s proposed code amendments.
6. Public Comments
No Public Comments were presented.
7. Next Meeting Date
The next meeting date was set for April 20, 2016.
8. Adjourn
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
