Leesburg Environmental Advisory Commission Elects New
Chair and Vice Chair
Leesburg, VA (October 7, 2011) – At their July 2011 meeting, the Leesburg Environmental
Advisory Commission (EAC) elected Linda Shotton as Chair and Dr. Mary Haberl as Vice Chair.
Linda Shotton has been a member of the Leesburg Environmental
Advisory Commission since 2006. Ms. Shotton has a computer and
mathematics background and has worked for the Department of
Defense and NASA. Ms. Shotton is an avid gardener and active in
the Loudoun County Master Gardener program. Through the Master
Gardener program, she works with volunteer educators to provide
the public with gardening information such as the importance of soil
testing before applying fertilizers and the impact on Town streams
related to the use of pesticides and soil amendments. Serving on the
EAC has been a logical next step for her to create awareness within
the local community of environmental concerns.
Dr. Mary Haberl has been a member of the Leesburg Enviromental
Advisory Commission since 2007. She is also a member of the
Loudoun County Rural Economic Development Commission’s Energy
Task Force. Dr. Haberl and her partners recently launched
Solar4Leesburg, a green energy technology business, located in the
newly opened Mason Enterprise Center- Leesburg at 202 Church
Street in downtown Leesburg.
“The Environmental Advisory Commission's mission is to promote and
protect the environmental interests of the town,” noted Linda Shotton. “We look forward to
helping all Town citizens participate in these efforts.”
