HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 68-850RESOLUTION NO. 68 -850 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY GIVING NOTICE OF INTENTION TO ESTABLISH A PARKING AND BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT AREA AND SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING THEREFOR THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That the City Council of Temple City hereby gives notice of its intention to establish a Parking and Business Improvement Area No.1 pursuant to the Parking and Business Improvement Law of 1965,. being Sections 36000 et seq of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, encompassing the following described area within the City of Temple City, County of Los Angeles, State of California: that territory bounded on the East by Golden West, on the West by Alessandro, on the North by Garibaldi, and on the South by Live Oak. SECTION 2. That the City Council will conduct a public hearing on September 3, 1968, at the hour of 7:30 P. M„ at the City Council Chambers in the City Hall, 5938 Kauffman Ave., Temple City, at which time all evidence for and against the establishment of said Parking and Business Improvement Area will be heard and all protests considered SECTION 3. The proposed uses to which the proposed revenues of- said Parking and Business ImprovOmentpArea,shal.l be put are: (a) The acquisition, construction or maintenance of parking facilities for the benefit of the area. (b) Decoration of any public place in the area. (c) Promotion of public events which are to take place on or in public places in the area. (d) Furnishing of music in any public place in the area. (e) The general promotion of retail trade activities in the area. SECTION 4. That an additional tax is proposed for levy upon the businesses in said area according to the following rates and classifications: Rate #l. $20.00 Rate #2. $40.00 Rate #3. 1/5 of one percent of total taxable retail sales. Minimum of $40., maximum of $750. 1.- Business of manufacturing k - Business of selling at wholesale only 1 - Undertaking establishments 2 - Medical, dental and optical laboratories 2 - Newspaper and magazine agencies 3 - Retail sale of newspapers, magazines, tobacco and items incidental thereto 2 - Advertising agencies 1 - Attorneys 3 - Auto dealers 1 - Automotive repairs 2 - Barber Shops 3 - Cafes 1 - Chiropractors 1 - Contractors and engineers 1 1 1 Resolution No. 68-850, page 2 1 - Medical and dental doctors 1 = Optometrists 1 - Printers 1 - Psychoanalysts 1 - Public Bookkeeping, accounting 2 - Public Utilities, including gas, electrical and telephone 3 - Restaurants 2 - Real Estate brokers 3 - Service Stations 1 - Veterinarians 1 - All other professions licensed and regulated by the State of California and not specifi- cally otherwise classified herein 2 - Cleaners and cleaners agents and agencies 2 - Laundromats and self - service 2 - Laundries and cleaners 2 - Laundry agents and agencies 2 - Rental agents and agencies 2 - Rental leasing companies 1 - Shoe repair shops 2 - Newspaper publishers 2 - Theaters 2 - Banks and Savings and Loans 2 - Bars 1 - Massage parlors 1 - Per'sonal and Real Estate Loan agents and agencies 2 - Photo studios 1 - Second Hand dealers and stores 1 - Tailors and tailor shops 1 - Trade schools 1 - Trading stamp agencies and redemption centers 3 - All business involved in retail sales SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption and passage of this Resolution and cause this Resolution to be published according to law and copies hereof mailed to each business in the proposed area; such publication and mailing to be completed not less than 10 days prior to the date set for hearing.
