RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL TO RESTRICT SPEED LIMITS TO 35 MPH AND' 45 MPH ON JASPER
AVENUE FROM HWY 6 SOUTH TO 340TH STREET INTERSECTION. INSTALL MANUAL STOP SIGNS AT
INTERSTATE RAILROAD CROSSING AND WARNING SIGNS ON JASPER AVENUE. RESTRICT
PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF JASPER AVENUE SOUTH OF HWY 6 WITHIN CORPORATE
BOUNDARIES OF THE CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA
WHEREAS: the City Council of Tiffin, lowa'finds it necessay for the safety of the motoring public to restrict speed
limits on Jasper Avenue south of Hwy 6 to the intersection of 340th Street, install manual stop signs at
the intersection of the Interstate Railroad crossing and warning signs of manual stop signs on Jasper
Avenue and restrict parking along both sides of Jasper Avenue south of Hwy 6 within the corporate
boundaries of the City of Tiffin, Iowa.
WHEREAS: it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa of the concerns for of traffic control
issues on Jasper Avenue due to increased traffic on Jasper Avenue.
WHEREAS: The City Council of Tiffin may be find it necessary to re -address the issue of the speed limit on Ireland
Avenue as development may progress for future needs.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa, approves the speed limit to be posted at 35 MPH from
the intersection of Hwy 6 to approximately 300 feet to the south property limits of the commercial building
owned by LMR Development LLC, known as "bells sala Reception Facility and XOXO Hugs and Kisses
Bridal Boutique", located at 3232 Jasper Avenue. The speed limit will be posted at 45 mph from this point
south on Jasper Avenue to the Intersection of 340th Street within the corporate boundaries of the City of
Tiffin, Iowa.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa approves -the installation of manual stop signs at the
intersection of the Interstate Railroad crossing and Jasper Avenue and install warning signs on Jasper
Avenue for the approaching stop signs as per the standards.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa approves the installation of signs and the
implementation of "No Parking" allowed on both sides of Jasper Avenue south of Hwy 6 within the corporate
boundaries of the City of Tiffin, Iowa.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the City Council of Tiffin, Iowa to authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to sign all
necessary documents, as required and necessary to direct Public Works to install new signage and to inform
all government agencies and, parties as necessary.
On this 10th day of February 2010, at a regular meeting of Tiffin City Council, Tiffin, Iowa, Council person Chris Ball
introduced RESOLUTION 2010-07, RESOLUTION FOR APPROVAL TO RESTRICT SPEED LIMITS TO 35 MPH AND
45 MPH ON JASPER AVENUE FROM HWY 6 SOUTH TO 340TH STREET INTERSECTION. INSTALL MANUAL STOP
SIGNS AT INTERSTATE RAILROAD CROSSING AND WARNING SIGNS ON JASPER AVENUE. RESTRICT
PARKING ON BOTH SIDES OF JASPER AVENUE SOUTH OF HWY 6 WITHIN CORPORATE BOUNDARIES OF THE
CITY OF TIFFIN, IOWA and made a motion for approval. The motion was seconded by Council person Mark Petersen.
AYES: Chris Ball, Jim Bartels, Mark Petersen, Travis Weipert
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Mike Gericke
WHEREUPON, with four votes for approval, Mayor Phillips declared that Resolution 2010-07 be adopted and signified
his approval of the same by affixing his signature thereto.
Passed, and Approved this 10th day of February 2010.
