A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF TEMPLE CITY COMMENDING THE TEMPLE CITY
Y. M. C. A. INDIAN.GUIDES FOR OUTSTANDING
PERFORMANCE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES RESOLVE:
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the
week of September 29th through October 5th, 1968, shall be proclaim-
ed as "TEMPLE CITY INDIAN GUIDE WEEK "; and
WHEREAS, it is further found and determined that the
Indian Guide program develops and builds strong character and leader-
ship ability in our youth and fosters companionship between father
and son in an effort to bring the family together resulting in the
enrichment of their spiritual life and strengthening the community
life of all citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is further found and determined that the Temple
City Y. M. C. A. has devoted itself to strengthening the community of
Temple City working with other Community service organizations assist-
ed by unselfish expending of time and cooperation by the City Officials,
both elected and appointed; and
WHEREAS, the Temple City Y. M. C. A. in recognition of the
never ending assistance and help of the City Council of Temple City,
has requested permission to bestow on the City Council the Honorary
Titles of Chief, Medicine Man, Tally Keeper, Keeper of the Council
Eire, Sender of the Smoke Signals, and Wampum Collector, and to
install them as such:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE FOLLOWING TITLES
ARE HEREBY ACCEPTED AS BESTOWED BY THE TEMPLE CITY Y. M. C. A.
INDIAN GUIDES:
BIG CHIEF, Mayor Kenneth C. Briggs
MEDICINE MAN, Vice Mayor Louis W. Merritt
TALLY KEEPER, Councilman Paul W. Beckley
KEEPER COUNCIL FIRE, Councilman William A. Harker
SENDER OF THE SMOKE SIGNALS, Councilman Jack R. Tyrell
WAMPUM COLLECTOR, City Clerk Karl L. Koski
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution be spread in
the minutes of the City Council thereof to become a part of the
permanent records.
ADOPTED AND APPROVED this 17th day of September, 1968.

I hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was adopted
by the City Council of the City of Temple City at a regular meeting
held on the 17th day of September, 1968, by the following vote:
