The Council of the Village of Medina met in regular session on Tuesday, June
1, 1971 at 7:40 Pm M.

The minutes of the meeting of May 4, 1971 were read. Moved by Donald Des Lauriers
to approve the minutes as read.
Seconded by Thomas Stevens
Motion carried
The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of May 17, 1971 read.
Wilfred Scherer appeared with regard to have a trailer on his property as a
bedroom for his Father. Moved by Robert Franklin that we grant a variance
for one year for a trailer because of the unusual circumstances.
Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers
Motion carried.
Mike Wolfe appeared with regard to contract with Tonka Kennels. Moved by Robert
Franklin to enter into an agreement with Tonka Kennels for three months
and chalge the fees to $10.00 per impounding and $1.50 per day, effective
June 10, 1971.

Motion carried.
Moved by Thomas Stevens to donate $25.00 to the Hennepin County Agricultural
Society for the County Fair.

Moved by Arthur Theis to donate $300.00 to the Hamel Athletic Club.

Moved by Donald Des Lauriers to sign the contract for Northern States Power
for the sewer lift station electricity.

Two copies of letters with regard to Boyer Landfill were read.
Moved by Robert Franklin that we concur with eolumbia Heights in asking Northern
States to submit to an examination of their ratgAIlic�tu at their own expense.

A letter from Village of Arden Hills with regard to the Metropolitan Council
was read.
Ron Sorenson and Mr. Pitts appeared with regard to the water problem in Medina-
Morningside.
Moved by Thomas Stevens to turn the matter over to the Village
Engineer to investigate the water in Medina Morningside.
Seconded by Robert Franklin

Don Hedtke appeared with regard to sub -standard housing in Medina-Morningside.
Attorney Gubbins reported on the different phases of split iatry houses. The
Planning Commission is to study the matter and bring the building code up to date.
e Holasaks and their attorney appeared. They want a compuehensive plan for sewer
filed with the Metropolitan Council.
Moved by Thomas Stevens to commission Anne Dorweiler to buy the necessary maps
for street names and numbers for the co d:mance of the project, and to continue
the work, to be paid 100 per mile for mileage and $3.00 per hour.

Motion carried.
Studied the report of the Audit of December 31, 1970. Moved by Thomas Stevens
that we accept the Audit Report, asking the Auditor to explain the closing
out of the Construction Account.

Motion carried.
Robert Franklin presented the application of Jerome LaFond as a part time
policeman. Moved by Thomas Stevens to hire Jerome LaFond as a part time
policeman at t3.00 per hour.

Moved by Arthur Thsis to pay he bills as follows: Payroll in the amount of
$4,830.77 and order checks in the amount of $9,848.66.
