The Council of the City of Medina met as the Board of Review for 1983 valuations, on
Tuesday, June 1, 1983, at 6:30 P.M.
Present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilm.embers, Wilfred Scherer, Thomas Crosby William
Reiser; Clerk -Treasurer, Donna Roehl; Assessors, Rolf Erickson, Anne iliche,
Hennepin County Assessor, Kerman Benson
Absent: Councilmember, Sarah Lutz
Thomas Anderson stated that the purpose of the meeting was to hear individuals in regards
to their assessed valuation for 1983 tax purposes.
Rolf Erickson and Anne Riche explained that they had assessed one half of Medina; that
older farm buildings needed adjustments and that sales of homes in Medina were compar-
able to sales of previous years.
Howard Glaefke, 1772 Morgan Rd., stated that he was now satisfied with the adjustment
that the assessors had made to his property value.
Clyde Libby, 2232 Co. Rd. 24., discussed the fact that he has two, 1 acre lots which
are assessed as buildable and if soils prohibit buildinghe would want to be on record
as requesting an abatement of taxes.
Gordon Tauer, 1742 Morgan Rd., discussed the increase in valuation of his property for
the past three years. He stated that it is not equitable to increase valuations year
after year and that mill rates should be raised, but not values.
Mr. Benson stated that the City Council could decrease the values if they wished.
Ray Miller, 3022 Co. Rd. 24., stated that his market value had increased by 44%.
Anne Eiche stated that they had increased the valuation on older homes and that small
acreage home -sites have been selling for $7000-8000 per acre.
Mrs. Miller asked for information regarding the assessing process.
Lawrence Elwell, 6125 Hwy. 101, discussed valuation of his four parcels, stating that
valuation cards should have been sent earlier so as to give property owners more time
to analyze their valuations. He stated that the price of farm land in the State has
decreased the past year and that assessed valuations should have been adjusted accord-
ingly.
Gary Petrucci, 29 5 Co. Rd. 24., asked that his name be put into the record has having
appeared to discuss his valuation.
Mayor Anderson stated that all of those appearing have the right to go before the Co-
unty Board of Equalization to discuss their valuations.
Motion by Reiser, seconded by Scherer to close the Board of Review meeting and to take
no action on valuations of those attending the meeting.
Motion declared carried
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 P.M.
