Thomas Balch Library to Host 19th Annual Loudoun History
Awards on Sunday, November 13, 2011
Leesburg, VA (October 26, 2011) – The 19th annual Loudoun History Awards, sponsored by the
Thomas Balch Library Advisory Commission, will honor four individuals who have made long-
term contributions to local history research and writing. The awards ceremony will take place
on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the lower level meeting room at the Thomas
Balch Library, located at 208 West Market Street in Leesburg.
This year’s honorees are:
Childs F. Burden, for his many contributions to research, advocacy for, and preservation
of Loudoun County history.
Taylor M. Chamberlin, for his many contributions to historical research and writing of
Loudoun County history.
Paul McCray, for his many contributions to the preservation and promotion of Loudoun
County history.
John M. Souders, for his many contributions to historical research and writing of
Loudoun County history.
These individuals have made significant contributions to preserving Loudoun’s past through the
collection of county documents and memorabilia, preservation of historic landmarks, visual
arts, writing, and long-time commitments to local history organizations.
