Leesburg Parks & Recreation Department Garners Four
Pinnacle Awards at 2011 IFEA Annual Convention
Leesburg, VA (November 1, 2011) – On October 3, 2011, at
the International Festivals & Events Association (IFEA) annual
convention, the Town of Leesburg’s Parks & Recreation
Department received four 2011 IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson
Pinnacle Awards. Each year, the IFEA/Haas & Wilkerson
Pinnacle Awards recognize outstanding accomplishment and
top quality creative, promotional, operational and community
outreach programs and materials produced by festivals and
events around the world. Awards are presented in 69
different subject categories, each divided into four budget
categories.
Competing in the “Under $250,000” budget category,
Leesburg received the following awards:
GOLD Award – Best Magazine Display Ad, 2011 Flower & Garden Festival (pictured above)
SILVER Award – Best Single Page Printed Material, 2011 Independence Day Celebration
BRONZE Award – Best Printed Ad Series, 2010 Holidays in Leesburg
BRONZE Award – Best Promotional Poster, 2011 Independence Day Celebration
“We would like to congratulate all of our Pinnacle winners for their outstanding entries into this
year’s competition,” said IFEA President & CEO, Steven Wood Schmader, CFEE. “Striving for the
highest degree of excellence in festival and event promotions and operations in every budget
level and every corner of the globe, this competition has not only raised the standards and
quality of the festivals and events industry to new levels, but also shows how event producers
can use innovation and creativity to achieve a higher level of success.”

events throughout the year to our citizens,” commented Rich Williams, Leesburg’s Director of
Parks & Recreation. “These events serve to solidify the feeling of community within Leesburg,
