Home My Public Portal About21-017 - Authorizing the Destruction of Specified City Records within the City Manager DepartmentRESOLUTION NO. 21-017 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARSON, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE DESTRUCTION OF SPECIFIED CITY RECORDS WITHIN THE CITY MANAGER DEPARTMENT - PUBLIC SAFETY DIVISION AND THE COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the Public Safety Division of the City Manager's Department has in storage a variety of records dating back from 1998 to 2011; and WHEREAS, the Community Services Department has in storage a variety of records dating back from 1975 to 2018; and WHEREAS, Public Safety and Community Services have reviewed the records itemized on Attachment "A" and Attachment "B," respectively, to this Resolution and have determined that the records are of no public use, historical or legal value; and WHEREAS, Title 4, Division 1, Chapter 1, Article 4, Section 34090 of the California Government Code, provides that, with the approval of the legislative body by resolution and written consent of the city attorney, the head of a city department may destroy any city record, document, instrument, book, or paper, under the department head's charge, without making a copy thereof, after the same is no longer required;and WHEREAS, the heads of the Public Safety Division and Community Services Department have approved the proposed destruction of Public Safety and Community Services records itemized on Attachment "A" and Attachment "B" of this Resolution;and WHEREAS, the City's Record Management Committee and the City Attorney have reviewed and approved the proposed destruction of Public Safety and Community Services records itemized on Attachment "A" and Attachment "B" of this Resolution and determined that such destruction is consistent with applicable state law; and WHEREAS, the City Manager has approved the proposed destruction of Public Safety and Community Services records itemized on Attachment "A" and Attachment "B" of this Resolution. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Carson, California, does hereby resolve and authorize the destruction of the records listed on Attachment "A" and Attachment "B" to this Resolution without further action by the City Council of the City of Carson.
