A RESOLUTION APPROVING A CONTRACT FOR
SOLID WASTE COLLECTION AND DISPOSAL AND
RECYCLING COLLECTION SERVICES WITH
ALLIED SERVICES, LLC
FOR THE CITY OF RIVERDALE, IOWA
WHEREAS, the standing agreement for solid waste collection and disposal and recycling
collection services between Allied Services, LLC, d/b/a as Allied Waste Services of Bettendorf("Allied
Waste") and the City of Riverdale ("City") expires in 2019, and the City, in the interest of providing
effective, cost-efficient refuse and recycling services for its constituents, did authorize its Public Works
committee to research comparable agreements in the area, and did hold public meetings and discussions
to discuss the nature and type of services to be provided; and,
WHEREAS, it was the consensus of the participants in said discussions that with some
amendments to the service agreement, that the service provided by its current contract holder Allied
Waste was acceptable, and the pricing offered by them was competitive with the scope of services
offered, and the Public Works committee and City staff did review and clarify terms and costs with Allied
Waste and negotiated a contract in a final form on or about May 28, 2019, which provides pricing and
services through May 31, 2026; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council did review and discuss said contract at its regular meeting of June
11, 2019 and does find it to be in the best interest of its constituents.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
RIVERDALE, SCOTT COUNTY, IN THE STATE OF IOWA:
Section 1. That the contract entitled"Contract for Solid Waste Collection and Disposal and
Recycling Collection Services", with Exhibits"A"through"D"("Contract"), proffered to the City by e-
mail from Allied Waste on May 28, 2019 is attached hereto and is hereafter a part of this Resolution.
Section 2. That the aforesaid Contract,commencing upon its signing and enduring for a term
through May 31, 2026, subject to terms within, shall provide for exclusive franchise, license and privilege
for waste collection and disposal and recycling collection to Allied Waste for the City of Riverdale.
Section 3. That with Council approval, the Mayor shall execute said agreement and the City Clerk
shall witness his signature.
