Leesburg’s 3.0 Senior Women’s Tennis Team Captures
National Championship
Leesburg, VA (November 4, 2011) – On
Sunday, October 30, 2011, at the 2011
United States Tennis Association (USTA)
League National Championships in
Indian Wells, California, the Leesburg
women’s team defeated the Lake
Oswego (OR) team to capture their first
3.0 Senior National Championship.
The Leesburg senior women’s tennis
team went undefeated in their quest
for the national championship. On
August 28, 2011, the team won the District Tournament in Wintergreen, Virginia. From there,
the ladies went on to win the Sectional Championship at Newport News, Virginia on September
9, 2011. At each tournament, the team won every match.
“We have a great group of senior players in the Leesburg/Loudoun community, and we are very
proud of them,” said Moses Gittens, Head Tennis Professional at Leesburg’s Ida Lee Tennis
Center. “The Middleburg Tennis Club won the 4.0 Senior National Championship two weeks
ago. Last week was Leesburg’s turn at the 3.0 level. These championships say a lot about local
league tennis in Leesburg and Loudoun County.”
