Member Richard von Furstenberg seconded. Vote: 5-0 4. Discussion items A. Gold Park Master Plan Trueblood noted this is a plan for the Parks and Recreation Board’s guidance and it could be used for budget justification. It was noted there would be a permitting process to provide access to the river. There was interest in adding basketball courts because there’s a need for them. There was acknowledgment that pickleball courts are also desired but may draw too many people to a park that is already heavily visited. There was discussion of moving the soccer goals to half the field to make it more obvious that the rest of the field is open for other recreation. There was a suggestion for portable game equipment like smash cans or portable volleyball nets. There was idea to place portable disc golf baskets on half of the field now so that soccer players get used to having half the space even before basketball courts are built. It was decided to add to the master plan reasons for not including a splash pad, pickleball courts and sun shades in Gold Park. There was interest in taking the backstop out to open the field and to conduct a preliminary feasibility study on basketball courts. Hammocks were mentioned as a possible seating option that may help teens feel that they have a place in the park. PARKS AND RECREATION BOARD MINUTES | 2 of 2 B.
