on Tuesday, June 3, 1980 at 6:40 P.M.
Members present: Mayor, Thomas Anderson; Councilmembers, Thomas Crosby, William Reiser;
Hennepin County Assessor, Kerman Benson; City Assessors, Rolf Erickson,
Anne Riche; Clerk -Treasurer, Donna Roehl
Absent: Councilmembers, Nancy Laurent, Sarah Lutz
Rolf Erickson reported on the procedures involved in assessing for 1981 taxes. He stated
that all houses had been photographed, all agricultural land had been reviewed and that
valuations range from $1200 to $2200 per acre. He added that some inequities had been
found.
Thomas Crosby asked if the 1981 assessment process was satisfactory with. Hennepin County.
Mr. Erickson reported that it appeared to be satisfactory; that Medina's valuation is app-
roximately $21,500,000 and that overall a 15%, or less, increase had been placed on all
residences.
Gordon Tauer, 1742 Morgan Rd., questioned valuation of his house as it was much more .than
the cost to build it, plus cost of the additional work he had done. Be also questioned
whether or not location on a blacktop road vs. a gavel road is taken into consideration.
Rolf Erickson stated that he had reduced the valuation on the property to $104,900.

Arthur Emerson, 4535 Willow Dr., stated that he was being overassessed in that his house
is 70 years old and the barn is 80 years old. He added that he is being taxed on 65 acres
when he actually has 60 acres divided into 39 and 21 acre'parcels.
He asked for a $70,000 valuation on his property.
Rolf Erickson stated that a survey should be given to Hennepin County and they could correct
the acreage amount and tax statements.
Motion by Crosby, seconded by Reiser to allow the existing assessment on the Emerson property
to remain, as is.
Motion declared carried
Motion by Crosby, seconded by Reiser to adjourn.
