RESOLUTION No. 69 -896
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY REQUESTING THE COUNTY
BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO INTERCEDE IN
BEHALF OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY WITH
THE STATE DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS TO SECURE
APPROPRIATE FREEWAY SIGNING
WHEREAS, the present exit ramp direction signs on the San
Bernardino Freeway at Rosemead Boulevard, Temple City Boulevard and
Baldwin Avenue do not indicate the direction or proximity of the
City of Temple City; and
WHEREAS, the Temple City Boulevard direction sign is
confusing to motorists in its reference to the City of Rosemead
and not to the City of Temple City; and
WHEREAS, neither Temple City Boulevard nor Baldwin
Avenue traverses the San Bernardino Freeway; and
WHEREAS, depending on the direction of travel, the
freeway exit required to reach the City of Temple City may be
Rosemead Boulevard or Temple City Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the resulting inconsistency is confusing and
therefore a hazard to motorists; and
WHEREAS, appropriate signing would facilitate the location
of the City of Temple City by motorists traveling in either the
east or west direction on the San Bernardino Freeway;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Temple City that the Los Angeles County Board of
Supervisors are requested to intercede in behalf of the residents
of the City of Temple City with the California State Division of
Highways in order to secure appropriate freeway signs which will
indicate the direction to the City of Temple City.

meeting thereof held on the 4th day of March, 1969, by the following
vote of the Council:
AYES: Councilmen- Beckley, Harker, Merritt, Tyrell, Briggs
NOES: Councilmen -None
