REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE VILLAGE OF MEDINA
JUNE 5,1962
Meeting called to order by Mayor Robert Scott at 8 PM, all council members present/.
Minutes of regular meeting of May 1,1962 were read Motion by Arens to accept
minutes as read, second by Gertz, motion carried.
Minutes of special meeting of May 28 were read, Motion by Winterhalter to accept
minutes as read, second by Arens, motion carried.
Council agreed to ask the planning commission to discuss the value of land to be
placed on property platted for purpose of contributing to the park fund.
Mayor Scott reported that a planning commission member would have to be appointed
to fill the vacancy left by Ella Christensen.
Motion by Arthur Gertz to hold the Dorn water problem in abeyance until next meeting,
second by R Roehl, motion carried. Clerk was to talk to Begin on this matter.
Clerk reported he bad been unable to find out anything about the sureties on the
Steinke bond.
Motion by Arthur Gertz that the lbuilding permit for Shermans garage be withheld
until such time as he has removed the driveway onto # 116, second by Arens,
motion carried.
Mayor Scott read letter foom the Railroad and warehouse commission regarding the
Soo lines petition to remove the depot and custodian service at Hamel,
Motion by Roehl that the village council of Medina opposes the proposed discontinuation
of custodian service and the retirement and removal of the Soo Line Depoxt at Hamel,
minnesota, second by Gertz, motion carried.
Motion by Arens to grant a special dance hall permit to Mrs. Hattelene Martinson
to run to June 30,1962, second by Winterhalter, motion carried. Motion by Roehl
to grant Mrs Hattelene Martinson a dance hall permit for the year July 1,1962
through June 30,1963, second by H. Arens, motion carried.,
Motion by Winterhalter to set the ;,fee for non -intoxicating malt liqour licesnse
on sale at $50.00. second by Arens, motion carried.
Motion by H Arens to grant Mrs Hattelene Martinson an on sale and off sale non
intoxicating beer licsens, second by Winterhalter, motion carried.
Motion by Gertz to grant Medina Recreations Inc a dance hall permit for the period
July 1, 1962 to June 30,1963, second by Winterhalter, motion carried.
Motion by At Gertz to grant on and off sale beer license to Laura Molitor, Medina
Recreations Inc and Fred Glampe, second by Arens, motion carried.
Off sale liqour license presented by Hattelene Martinson, was discussed. She was
advised to contact the liqpur control commissioner for his approval before the
council would act upon it.
Coucil discussed accident insurance for Village employedss, Clerk will get further
information on this coverage.
Motion by Winterhalter to accept the Suburban Hennepin County Relief contract for
the comrnng year, second ray Arens; motion carried.
Meeting was set for June 12, at Lakeview for residents of the beach area and the
weed inspector.
Raymond Bosch reI4i61INN reported that he would not be able to transport the childred
from the Beach area for swiming leasons, he was me to reprt to the mayor if some
arrangements could be made.
Gravel priees were discussed. Leo Leuer reported that the crushed gravel at 41.00
would be worth the .30cents difference as it stayed on the roads longer.
Leo Leuer reported that he would pref&r to have the weeds sprayed. Council instructed
him to contact some one about doing the spraying and to find out fax the costs.
