RESOLUTION NO. 96-220
ADOPTED October 9, 1996
A RESOLUTION:
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 96-204 STATING
LEESBURG'S POSITION ON A HIGH SCHOOL SITE
WHEREAS, on September 27, 1996, Leesburg Town Council presented Resolution
No. 96-204 stating the town's position on the requested high school site in Leesburg; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors, Loudoun
County School Board and the Leesburg Town Council met on October 8, 1996, to discuss the
issue.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
SECTION I. The town is committed to its obligations as set forth in the Annexation
Agreement and AADP's with Loudoun County.
SECTION II. In the spirit of cooperation with the Loudoun County Board of
Supervisors and the Loudoun County School Board, the town will either provide or finance a
high school site of 50 useable acres by July 1, 1999, conditioned upon the following:
1. That Loudoun County authorize and fund the construction of an elementary
school on at least a 15-acre site located in Leesburg or within one mile of
Leesburg's town limits and west of Goose Creek; and
2. That an amendment to the AADP's be approved to eliminate one elementary
school site of 15 acres from the town's future obligations.
SECTION III. The Town Council hereby encourages the Loudoun County School
Board to provide a commitment to use its best efforts to ensure that Leesburg students
attend schools in Leesburg.
SECTION IV. The Town Council reaffirms its continuing offer to meet and work
with the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors and the Loudoun County School Board to
improve

communication among the bodies necessary to ensure safe, quality education for all of Leesburg's
school children.
