COUNCIL RESOLUTION NO.19-2008
A RESOLUTION APPROVING HISTORIC DESIGNATION FOR THE JOHN W. "DOC"
WILLIAMS HOME AT 40 WEST 100 NORTH
WHEREAS, Kara Dohrenwend and Ray Williams as owners (Owners/Applicant) of
record of the property located at 40 West 100 North, Moab Utah 84832, have applied to the City
of Moab for a review of historic designation of their property; and,
WHEREAS, the applicants have provided the required submittals of Code Section 17.90,
Historic Designation, to be reviewed by City Staff (Staff) and the Moab City Council (Council);
and,
WHEREAS, the City adopted section 17.90 in an effort to encourage the preservation
"and enhance the historic quality and character of Moab and surrounding area, and to recognize
and maintain the attractiveness of older residential neighborhoods and of the central business
district that presents a "sense of place" unique to Moab."; and,
WHEREAS, Council reviewed the proposed historic designation in a public hearing
during a regular meeting held on July 8, 2008, to determine the qualifications of said property for
designation as an historic structure and hear public testimony regarding the application; and,
WHEREAS, Council adopted Resolution No. 19-2008, subsequent to said review, and
found that the property does meet the appropriate eligibility criteria for the designation of historic
resources established in 17.90(f), primarily that the structure:
1. Exemplifies specific elements of an architectural style or period;
2. Is associated with a notable person or the work of a notable person.
3. Is an established visual feature of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MOAB CITY COUNCIL, that the structure
located at 40 West 100 North, Moab Utah, is hereby granted the first historic designation and
shall be entered into the registry as maintained by the City Recorder.
PASSED AND ADOPTED by action of the Moab City Council in open session this
