HomeMy Public PortalAbout900.4 - Business and Financial Services - Fleet Management - Painting City Vehicles and EquipmentGeneral Administration Department Fleet Management Division Section 900.4 900.4 SUBJECT: PAINTING CITY VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT :1 OBJECTIVE: To ensure uniformity, neatness, and identification for all City vehicles and equipment. :2 AUTHORITY: This procedure amended by City Council April 19, 2004, Item A1. :3 DIRECTION: Fleet Management Division Manager, serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and receives direction through the General Administration Department Director. :4 METHOD OF OPERATION: The Fleet Management Division Manager, in an effort to standardize the color of the fleet, will use the following guidelines where feasible: A. The Police Chief is authorized to prescribe the colors, decal design and markings for any vehicle assigned to the Police Department. B. All vehicles working in hazardous areas shall be painted red, DuPont No. 96-766H or its equivalent. C. Industrial equipment shall be painted chrome yellow 1 DuPont No. 96-3421 (or its equivalent, if available) or the manufacturer's designated color. D. City vehicles not specifically mentioned in A, B, and C above will be painted Alpine White, DuPont No. 93-96923 or its equivalent. E. Used passenger car colors will vary depending on the availability in the market place. F. Deviation from the above-stated policy must be submitted to the General Administration Department Director for recommendation to the Chief Administrative Officer and City Council for specific approval. :5 FORMS: None. :6 COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES: None. :7 REFERENCE: City Council minutes, February 15, 1965, Item 22.
