MINUTES Fuel Gas, Energy Conservation and Mechanical Codes TECHNICAL SUB-COMMITTEE of the City of Jefferson Code Review Steering Committee August 11,2016 COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT: COMMITTEE MEMERS ABSENT: Jim Dove,Chair Shawn Rackers Bill Luebbert,Vice Chair Rodney Schulte Ken Sandbothe EX-OFFICIO MEMBERS PRESENT: Josh Young Richard Hunt Larry Burkhardt 1. Call to Order Chair Jim Dove called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm. 2. Review and approve meeting minutes from July 14,2016. The minutes were approved. 3. Old Business The list of questions generated at the last meeting was discussed. Modifications are reflected in the attached revised list. 4. Discuss Fuel Gas code review The ICC Fuel Gas Code appears to be similar to the National Fuel Gas Code. It was recommended to be accepted pending Chapter one(1) revisions for administrative topics. 5. New Business—code review assignment for next meeting The committee is ready to start review of the International Energy Conservation Code. 6. Public Comments No public comments were made. 7. Next Meeting date"'September 1St? Meet 1St and 3rd Thursdays of the month? The next meeting date was moved and will be 3pm on September 15, 2016. 8. Adjourn The meeting adjourned at 4:33 pm. Page 1 of 2 Possible Amendments to the codes: Mechanical Code: 1. Section 106.2—Discussion will need to identify work that will be exempt from permit. An example could be boilers. Other agencies inspect this work and could be considered exempt from permit. The City will need to retain inspectors that are competent and knowledgeable about systems that are inspected that receive a building permit. Otherwise,the work should be exempt from needing a permit. 2. Section 307.2.1 Condensate disposal—Indirect connection should be to a sewer system. The Plumbing Board will be consulted. Page 2 of 2
