Loudoun Community Health Center Celebrates
Groundbreaking for New Leesburg Facility on Monday,
December 19, 2011
Leesburg, VA (December 7, 2011) – The Loudoun Community Health Center and Town of
Leesburg officials will celebrate the start of construction on the Health Center’s new Leesburg
facility with a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. The site
of the Loudoun Community Health Center’s new facility is located at 163 Fort Evans Road NE in
Leesburg.
In 2010, the Loudoun Community Health Center (LCHC) received an $8.7 million grant through
the Federal Health Care Reform Act to build a new facility. Currently, LCHC is housed at the
Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Leesburg Campus on Cornwall Street. The Center’s current space is
inadequate to meet the increasing demand of Loudoun County residents seeking affordable
medical care. As a result, LCHC is now managing a wait list of more than 900 people. The new
28,000 square foot building will have 18 exam rooms, 7 dental operatories, a mental health
wing, optometry services, and community meeting room space for health-related educational
programs.
“Our new facility will be a wonderful resource for the entire community,” commented Debra
Dever, CEO of the Loudoun Community Health Center. “We still have a goal of raising the
remaining $2 million to complete the project. Hopefully, now that construction is underway,
there will be more awareness in the community of the Center’s services and we can generate
the needed support.”
“The Loudoun Community Health Center has long been an under-recognized community
partner,” said Marantha Edwards, Leesburg’s Economic Development Manager. “Once they
received their grant last year, the Town was very proactive in helping them to find a location in
Leesburg for their new facility. We’re delighted to celebrate this groundbreaking, and look
forward to a ribbon cutting in 2012.”
