Minutes Cemetery Resource Board Meeting Thursday,August 18,2016 Members Present: Nancy Thompson,Chair Tim Theroff, Co-Chair Beth Bock Members Absent: Pat Rowe Kerr Rebecca Gordon Council Liaison: Mark Schreiber Staff: David Greliner, Environmental Health Manager Don Beck, Property Maintenance Inspector Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present. The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday,August 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building,320 E. McCarty Street,Jefferson City, Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the July 21, 2016 meeting by Beth Bock,Tim Theroff seconded. Minutes were approved. Old Business: Discussion occurred between board members regarding QR Codes(Quick Response Code)to be used on grave stones in Woodland and Old City Cemetery. Nancy presented information regarding how the QR Code works. Board members discussed if the codes could be laminated and how to attach them to the grave stone and if any damage would occur. Nancy also presented information on the numbered grave stone which thought at one time may be a prisoner grave stone in Woodland/Old City Cemetery. Board members also discussed the Woodland Cemetery lot map and how they could possibly grid out the grave lots on graph paper. Tim Theroff asked whether the City could possibly produce this on a CAD program to utilize information on specific lots. Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resource Board August 18,2016 page 2 New Business: Nancy discussed veterans'tombstones placement in Woodland/Old City Cemetery. She stated she has five Civil War soldiers that need grave stones. Nancy is looking for a volunteer to make application for the veterans'tombstones. She stated two of the soldiers have locations in the cemetery while the other three do not. Board members discussed on where to place these tombstones. An idea was brought up to place the grave stones by the"Gone But Not Forgotten Monument"or to just have their names inscribed on the monument. Discussion then occurred about removing an old stump and locating the three grave stones in this location. The Longview Cemetery tour was postponed and will be put on next month schedule. David Grellner and Nancy Thompson discussed the two names that will be put on the "Gone But Not Forgotten Monument". The names are Georgia Adams, born February 22, 1914,died February 20, 1920 and Mary (Ford)Green Tennyson, born October 31, 1844,died September 4, 1916. Other Topics and Issues: The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for September 15, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room at City Hall.
