Minutes Cemetery Resource Board Meeting Thursday,July 21,2016 Members Present: Nancy Thompson, Chair Tim Theroff,Co-Chair Beth Bock Rebecca Gordon Members Absent: Pat Rowe Kerr Staff: David Grellner, Environmental Health Manager Don Beck, Property Maintenance Inspector Nancy Thompson called the meeting to order. A quorum was present. The Cemetery Resource Board met on Thursday,July 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Missouri River Conference Room, lower level of the John G. Christy Municipal Building, 320 E. McCarty Street,Jefferson City, Missouri. Approval of the Minutes: A motion was made for approval of the minutes from the June 23, 2016 meeting by Tim Theroff, Rebecca Gordon seconded. Minutes were approved. Old Business: Nancy Thompson discussed whether there were any new Cemetery Resource Board member prospects to add to the membership. There are two positions currently open on the board. Tim Theroff stated he had some possible candidates for the open positions. New Business: It was decided to hold off on doing the Longview Cemetery tour until the weather was cooler. Discussion occurred about the plat maps Nancy had been reviewing. Nancy stated that she has figured out how the plat map and the Woodland/Old City Cemetery record book coincide. She would like to graph out the graves in the lots for better record keeping. Tim offered his help in graphing out the lots if needed. Nancy discussed working with Lincoln University to help fill out the rest of the map in the western portion of Old City Cemetery. Nancy brought up a grave stone that had numbers on it which could possibly be a prisoners grave. Nancy also stated that she and Michelle Brooks had identified two individuals from the 62nd colored infantry. Discussion occurred between members and staff on how the Minutes of the City of Jefferson Cemetery Resource Board July 21, 2016 page 2 process to restore grave stones would progress for next year and how funding can be obtained for these projects. Nancy discussed that the current ground keepers may be using two much weed killer in the grave lots and around the fences and also the ground hogs were moving into the central portion of the cemetery. Other Topics and Issues: The next Cemetery Resource Board Meeting was set for August 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Small Conference Room at City Hall.
