An ordinance enacting the Uniform Building Code, 1997 Edition,
the Uniform Fire Code, 1997 Edition, and the 1997 International
Plumbing Code as official constructions codes for Moab City and
incorporating said codes into City ordinances.
WHEREAS Moab City has previously incorporated the Uniform
Building Code into its municipal ordinances and it is in the
interests of public health and safety that City fire, building, and
plumbing codes be periodically updated.
NOW THEREFORE, MOAB CITY, upon action of the governing body,
enacts the following new section and amends the following existing
sections to read as follows:
15.03.010 Interpretation of Codes.
To the extent that any uniform code adopted under this Title
15 conflicts with, or is contrary to, other specific provisions of
the Moab Municipal Code, the specific section of the Moab Municipal
Code shall be deemed to supersede and take precedence over the
uniform code provision. In all such cases the section of the Moab
Municipal Code shall supply the effective standard, rule, or
specification to which construction shall adhere.
Sections 15.04.010, 15.04.015, 15.16.010, 15.24.010 are hereby
amended as follows:
BUILDING CODE
15.04.010 Adoption. Certain codes establishing rules and
regulations for the regulation and control of the design,
construction, quality of materials, use and occupancy, location and
maintenance of buildings and structures entitled "Uniform Building
Code," 1997 Edition, printed as a code in book form, adopted by the
International Conference of Building Officials is adopted as the
building code of the City, and by this reference is made a part of
this chapter. Three copies of the Uniform Building Code are filed
for use and examination by the public in the office of the City
Recorder.
15.04.015 Uniform Building Code 1997 Edition --Chapter 70 adopted.
Chapter 70 of the 1997 Uniform Building Code is hereby adopted in
its entirety.
FIRE CODE
15.16.010 Adoption --where filed. Certain documents, three copies
of which are on file in the office of the recorder of the city,
being marked and designed as "Uniform Fire Code" (and "Uniform Fire
Code Appendix"), 1997 Edition, and the "Uniform Fire Code
Standards," 1997 Edition, published by the International Conference
of Building Officials and Western Fire Chiefs Association, are
adopted as the code of the City for prescribing regulations
consistent with nationally recognized good practice for the
safeguarding to a reasonable degree of life and property from the
hazards of fire and explosion arising from the storage, handling
and use of hazardous substances, materials and devices, and from
conditions hazardous to life or property in the use or occupancy of
buildings or premises; and each and all of the regulations,
provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of such "Uniform Fire
Code," 1997 Edition, and the "Uniform Fire Code Standards," 1997
Edition, on file in the office of the City are referred to, adopted
and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this section. (Ord.

15.24.030 Plumbing Inspector --Powers and Duties.
15.24.010 Adoption --Where filed. The "International Plumbing
Code," 1997 Edition, published by the International Association of
Plumbing and Mechanical Officials and adopted by the International
Conference of Building Officials, three copies of which are, and
shall remain, on file in the office of the City Recorder for
examination and use by the public, are adopted by the City and by
this reference incorporated as a part of this section as fully as
if completely set out herein, together with all amendments and
additions that may hereafter be made thereto, and the provisions
thereof shall regulate the use, construction and installation of
