AUTHORIZING A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT
OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY FOR UPGRADE OF THE WATER
POLLUTION CONTROL FACILITY
WHEREAS, the Virginia legislature appropriated approximately $11 million in FY98 funds, to be
awarded as 50 percent cost share grants for implementation of the Potomac/Shenandoah River Basin
Tributary Strategy for nutrient reduction; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg submitted a grant application and was notified by the Virginia
Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) that a Water Quality Improvement Fund Grant was approved
in the amount of $4,759,750 for upgrade of the town's Water Pollution Control Facility; and
WHEREAS, a grant agreement acceptable to both the town and DEQ has been negotiated and must
be executed by both parties; and
WHEREAS, the grant agreement is subject to a thirty day public review period, prior to execution
of the agreement.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as follows:
SECTION I. The manager is hereby authorized and directed, on behalf of the town, to execute the
Water Quality Improvement Fund Grant Agreement, in the amount of $4,759,750, in a form approved by
the town's special council, upon completion of the thirty day public review period.
