DIADIJOOD Located 65 miles south-east of Cascade, Deadwood was one of mr.sy minim communities in Valley County to prosper and dio, It is reported that Deadwood was a byproduct of the Ends= Bay Company and that prospectors were digging in the area in 1363, if score old-timers, stories told were true. In 1867 Nathan Smith a distinguished prospector revived the Deadwood urines. The rallying cry throughout the Boise Basin was "Deadwood or Nast." In 1942 a school was opened with Mrs. Chlarello teaching five pupils. The interior of the school held four table-lik3 desks and four benches, Oliver J.L. flower was apointed postmaster at :.Deadwood June 2, 1944.
