SOLICITING PUBLIC INPUT
MOTTO FOR THE TOWN

REGARDING ESTABLISHING
A
WHEREAS, the Town of Leesburg has no formally established motto; and
WHEREAS, town staff researched the issue and found that the Lee family motto, "Non
incautus futuri," is translated as "Not unmindful of the future"; and
WHEREAS, this item was discussed at the Administration and Public Works Committee on
February 17, 1998; and
WHEREAS, the committee suggested that public input be solicited on this item.
THEREFORE, RESOLVED by the Council of the Town of Leesburg in Virginia as
follows:
Town staff is directed to issue a news release soliciting public input on the proposed town
motto and to return this issue to committee for a further report.
