and
WHEREAS, ASD is a lifelong condition, affecting over 5.4 million adults in the United States,
many needing ongoing services and support; and
WHEREAS, autism knows no racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, educational, or lifestyle
boundaries and affects many within the City of Bothell; and
WHEREAS, we recognize that early diagnosis and treatment are essential to those
affected by ASD, and provide opportunity for those individuals to lead significantly
improved lives; and

Bothell, and support continued education, training, and resources so every person has the
opportunity to live full, distinguished, productive lives in their communities; and

we are only beginning to understand the challenges they face, and dedicate this time to
promote better understanding and response to autism.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Mason Thompson, Mayor of the City of Bothell, do hereby proclaim
April 2022 as “Autism Awareness Month” in the City of Bothell in honor of the achievements
and contributions of those facing the challenges of autism, and encourage all in our
community to learn what more they can do to support individuals on the autism spectrum
and their families.
Signed this 12th day of April, 2022.
